I am Anouk, a graphic designer, illustrator and painter based in ’s-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands. My work is rooted in a fascination for finding serenity and harmony through the interplay of color and composition, stillness and chaos, solitude and community, discovering simplicity within complexity. Using both analogue and digital techniques, I seek to visualize my own inner utopia: a place where such balance exists, where I would like to live or sleep in.

Raised on a flower nursery, I grew up surrounded by fields that felt monotonous to me at that time. I would go deep into those flower fields and escape into books and my drawings, until the dog found me or it was time to eat. After studying graphic design and working as a designer, I began to feel the constrains of structured, digital work. I longed for forms that could grow more freely, more organically. Gradually, I returned to nature. Growing my own flowers, drawing late into the evening and giving in to what I had always loved to do. My practice now draws on this lifelong dialogue with nature and solitude. I am fascinated by the harmony found in it’s details: the thousand leaves that weave a field, the hidden palettes at the heart of a flower, the rhythm of the changing seasons. Through drawing, painting and design, I seek to give shape to these sensory experiences and my inner world, inviting others to encounter them anew, in their own way.
